Your hips are only 31"? Are you sure you are measuring correctly at the fullest part of your hips? That's way too skinny for modeling - your hips need to be ideally 34-36". Most lingerie models are 34-24-34 at the smallest but more commonly 36-26-36. You need to have boobs and a nice booty to be a successful underwear model

And you cannot model underwear until you are 18

When female models have their period and they have to model underwear, what do they 'wear'?

This is a serious one . Recently while watching a fashion show on TV (I was alone , thank god) I witnessed a very disturbing thing that made me think . During a photo shoot a model's dress slipped which revealed some parts of her body (not to mention) . She adjusted quickly & I was stunned by the calmness of her face . It was like nothing happened . She was talking normally .

During ramp walks models do not wear bras & then too agree to wear transparent clothes . In a ramp walk I saw nearly 40% of the models wearing clothes through which their under wears & breasts were clearly visible . The limits were crossed when I saw a model without her underwear (on the TV) & decided never to watch the channel again .

Why do female models, dancers, swimmers, and athletes have to be half-naked?
I've noticed more and more how females are mostly dressing half naked for everything. Actresses and Singers are Awards Ceremonies (whereas the men are usually wearing suits or shirt/tie), Female Tennis players, swimmers and athletes are always half naked, whereas their male counterparts are much more covered up with clothing.

For example, on "So you think you can dance" - the women are half naked showing their underwear, and the men are fully clothed. If men can dance with clothes on, why can't women? The same is true for ice dancers, other dancers, models, swimmers and other athletes.

Why is this so? Surely, seeing their bony too skinny bodies isn't the only way they can make an impression, why do men not need to get naked to be popular, win modelling/dancing competitions, or good at their sport.

Women don't have to be naked to be beautiful. They don't have to be naked to be seen as sexy. Even Miss World/Universe Competitions - all the women are practically naked. The more naked the more chance of winning.

This is not good, women are put out there as sex symbols, half undressed (or they're considered not normal), and this is what the younger generation look up to, and dress like, making themselves look like sluts, and making the guys think they're easy, and up for anything. It's not right, women should be wearing more, especially in the public eye. They don't have to be covered from head to toe, i'm no prude, but they're practically naked.

The main point here, is the stereotype. Females have to be half naked to win competitions, to become models, to win acting awards, to get anywhere in professional singing, to be a popular sportswoman - whereas Males don't. They are always more covered up than women, and are still popular, and still win awards and are popular.

That's patriarchy and the marketing of the female body for you.
Pity that the majority of women, at least in the US and most other Western countries, are willing participants in their own devaluation. They must be reduced to their bodies - a woman with brains and artistic/athletic proficiency would be too threatening if she also were seen as a person to be taken seriously. Most women are brought up to hate themselves and other women and so they hate women who don't buy into that. Where do you think all the bile and hatred against Hillary Clinton, and, yes, also against Sarah Palin (I still hate all she stands for) and Nancy Pelosi come from? Do you really believe a (half) black guy would have won the nomination against another male?

It is our task to stop at least our own daughters and sons to fall for that crap.
